Welcome to my Horse and Pony page

There is something magical I feel when I’m around horses. For me they evoke qualities such as; beauty, thoughtfulness, creators, friendliness, social, responsible, ancient, romantic, power, gentleness, reliability, loyalty and wisdom.
I am lucky enough to go horse riding most Fridays at Bradnant Equestrian Centre, it is 5 minutes away from our house. Above is my favourite pony at the stable-Grey Dougal. I get to help out, tack up, groom, and ride the horses and ponies.
Where we live, in Mid-Wales, there are horses and ponies everywhere. So I have grown up watching them, sketching them, filming them, and playing with them. For my 6th birthday present, I asked for a horse riding lesson. Since then, I have taken every opportunity offered to me to ride and be with horses. My dad sometimes helps sick horses, and I go with him.
Yesterday I made a quick music video of me horse riding! Enjoy it ![]()
Here are some photos of the horses and ponies, and information about them:
Bertie is a stubborn and cheeky little pony. I have to work hard to get him to move! He teaches me patience.
This is little Brad the foal, when he was born, the mother neglected him, and one of the ponies at Bradnant (who also has a foal) adopted him. But Brad didn’t know how to drink her milk, so I was lucky enough to bottle feed him milk!
Gareth is a pony, who looks like a shire horse to me, I haven’t ridden him, I think he looks wise, don’t you?
Twizzle, is one of the new horses, she’s really big, and I think she looks smart, grand and athletic.
Shelly. I’ve never ridden Shelly, before, my friends say she’s a big version of Bertie!
Beautiful Woody, the vet’s horse. I love all his markings and patterns.
Grey Dougal, a pony that I can do anything with. You ask him to do something, and he does it, as if it’s the easiest thing in the world! I can even canter on him with my arms held out!
Prince. A very fast pony, he’s a flea bitten grey, I’ve only ridden him a couple of times.
Gem is quick like Prince. She’s also very sensitive. I used to ride Gem or Grey Dougal all the time, but a couple of years ago Gem had a foal, so I couldn’t ride her, but now I can again. She has taught me to concentrate hard, because if I get distracted-off she goes!
Me riding my other favourite horse-Dun Dougal! When I started riding him, I found it hard to squeeze his sides hard enough to ask him to trot, or walk. Because I had been riding Grey Dougal, who you give the slightest nudge, and he’ll respond straight away. Now I have got stronger legs, and I can squeeze on Dun Dougal.
