Art

Hello! Welcome to my 2011 ‘Art’ page.
I love drawing, painting, and making things with my creative hands, which always like to be busy.
I always take with me a sketch book, pencil, pen, & pencil sharpener. I can draw anywhere then; in the dentist, at concerts (my sister is a violinist and plays in a lot of concerts), in the car, at cafe’s, and in queues.
The picture at the top of this page, is from when I had forgotten to bring my sketchbook, and that doesn’t stop me from drawing! I had to use mum’s note book. You can draw on anything, serviettes, paper bags, stones…

Below you can see my first self-portrait drawn with graphite pencil’s 2B & 4B. Then later I painted my first self-portrait with paint on canvas.

I used paints made from clay.

Recently in our Powys Eisteddfod, I entered this drawing based on the theme ‘Spirit of the river’ and it came 3rd. As you can see there is a lot of shading in it. This creates different tones. I used different pencils to get these tones; 3H, 6B, H, 4H, 2H , 2B, & 5B. An H pencil has a harder lead & gives a lighter shade & a B pencil has a softer lead and gives a darker shade. I love using shading as without using colour you can show where something is lighter in the sun and where it is darker in the shade. It makes the picture look more real.

Here is a painting that I spent a lot of time on, the theme was winter wildlife. It took me a long time to work out the composition. It has been published on Aquila’s website.

Art Gallery – to view & to buy

Below you can see some of my art that is for sale & if you would like to buy any, please contact me with a suggested donation.
I can send you my art as a card with an envelope, a poster print, a print on canvas or on a mug.
I also can add text to a card such as ‘Happy Birthday’ or ‘Congratulations’ and I can add names like ‘Happy Birthday Tilly’ or ‘Well Done Mark’. I also love to design cards for any occasion.
I also illustrate books for children and books of my poetry.
I handsew my little books together and stick the illustrations and words onto beautiful card.
